The Oakner grain elevator is owned by Cargill and includes an older wooden grain elevator with a newer concrete grain elevator and some steel bins.

This complex has a capacity of 14,500 tonnes and CN lists it as having between 50 and 100 car spots for loading grain.

There was a Manitoba Pool grain elevator in Oakner, with a capacity of 5,710 tonnes of grain. It became owned by Agricore, then Viterra. By 2009 it was gone.

Oakner is served by CN via the Rivers subdivision.

There are a few houses nearby but the majority of the town of Oakner has disappeared.
