The Swan River Valley grain elevator is located just north of the town of Swan River, Manitoba. This elevator is owned by Richardson Pioneer. The elevator consists of a central orange elevator with three large storage bins on each side.
The elevator has a capacity of 13,310 tonnes and has storage for more than 100 rail cars on three tracks. It used to have a capacity of 4,850 tonnes but it was greatly expanded around 2002.
The town of Starbuck, Manitoba has one grain elevator, a Richardson Pioneer concrete structure. The Starbuck grain elevator has a capacity of 18,170 tonnes.
Starbuck used to have a pair of elevators farther west but they were demolished, presumably in the 1980s. There was a wooden elevator in the location that the Pioneer elevator is in now, presumably an older Pioneer.
This modern elevator was acquired by Richardson on May 1, 2013 and in June 2013 it was announced that it would receive “high speed blenders, fertilizer storage and a 6,000- square-foot chemical and seed warehouse to become full-service crop input centres”. Here are before and after photos to show the changes.
